Research Interests
Our lab focuses on environmental drivers of enteric pathogen transmission at multiple spatial scales. We use microbiological and epidemiological methods to understand how environmental and social phenomena affect enteric disease transmission in both domestic and international (primarily Latin America) settings. We incorporate empirical data on antibiotic resistance collected in these population-based field sampling efforts into our research program, with topics ranging from antibiotic resistance associated with small-scale poultry farming in rural Ecuador to linkages between antibiotic resistance and virulence in commensal and pathogenic E. coli of human populations.
