Research Interests
I have a longstanding interest in understanding the epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance in children with an emphasis on understanding how antibiotic resistance patterns become evident in the pediatric population after being present in adults. I am also very interested in understanding how disruptions of the microbiome in children may be remediated with probiotic supplementation. Appreciating the role of colonization versus pathogen is an overarching theme that is prevalent in my clinical care activities as well as research activities. Understanding how colonization and carriage translates into infection in healthcare settings is another research interest.
